Shallow Grave

Shallow Grave

What did he do to deserve this?
Was it really just because of that one kiss?
A kiss from someone more beautiful than life,
A kiss from someone who was another man’s wife.
That fleeting moment that felt like it lasted forever,
The damning moment that would have them buried together.
Still holding hands as they wished they could be saved,
But two shots in the dark filled the cold grave.

Can You Hear Them?

Another poem that i feel like i should preface by saying “No, this is not something that I’ve had happen to me.” I told myself i wasn’t going to move or do anything else till i wrote something, so it ended up with me giving a glance at a mind with issues I’d rather not have. So again; No, i don’t hear them.

Can You Hear Them?

Can you hear them calling?
They want you to play with them,
They want you to join the fun.
Can you hear them whispering to you?
Whispering about things that people did,
Or things they said behind your back.
Can you hear them suggesting things?
Little ways that you could get your revenge,
Things to make sure they never do it again.
Can you hear them laughing?
Laughing at a life in shambles,
And the blood on your hands.

The Last Sanctuary

It seems that i was correct in assuming that medication i had started was causing the writer’s block, we stopped it a few days ago and once again I’m managing to churn out some poems.  Hope you enjoy the read.

The Last Sanctuary

All windows are shattered,
All doors broken down.
You know they’re coming for you,
Yet you don’t know why.
Nothing left to guard you,
No one there to save you.
You sit alone on the cold stone floor,
The cold floor of this broken sanctuary.

My goal to get a poem written every day hasn’t really been going well, I’ve had a persistent headache for probably over a week now on top of an ever annoying dose of writer’s block. So far every time I’ve tried to write something, the headache has gotten worse, and this time was no different in that aspect. However, i did get it finished. Enjoy the read folks.

Divergent Thoughts

God i want it.

You know i need it,

Need it all for myself.

Something to give me that high,

The high that i miss so much.

You know there’s only one thing that does it,

Only that one thing that lifts me up to the sky.

The more i do it the more i need it,

I can never have enough things to write.

Take The Time

More idle musing on a rather simple subject, but still something that’s rather important to do in my mind.

Enjoy the read,

Take The Time

Wait for a minute, take it slow,
The people you love, you should learn to know.
Learn to know what lies in their heart,
Learn how to keep their dreams from falling apart.
The surface you see only tells what they hold outside,
Take your time to learn the things about them they hold inside.
That glance at the surface will only get you so far,
So take your time to talk to them, learn more about who they really are.

Before You Speak

After a few days of not getting anything new posted, it feels rather nice to finally get something new put up. It’s nothing really fancy, just something i thought of while talking to someone. That aside, enjoy the read.

Before You Speak

Those words that you’re about to say,
Have you considered what they might cause?
A simple sentence at the wrong time can cause damage,
A few words at the right time can brighten someone’s day.
Speaking from anger can tear relationships apart,
Speak instead from love to strengthen those bonds.
It’s not always an easy thing to stop and consider what you’re about to say,
But those few moments of thought can make a world of difference in the end.

Smoke Signs

Smoke Signs

Come on, light the flames of your desire,
Watch that burning passion building higher.
A column of smoke to let the world know,
Let it know which way you’re going to go.
Will you take off running, or strike a leisurely pace?
Are you going to bring people along, or be alone in your race?
Your path may twist, your path may turn,
Just remember to hold onto each lesson you learn.
Remember your lessons or you may lose your way,
But don’t worry, you can try again another day.

In the Shadow of Mistakes

I was in bed half way asleep when I wrote this one, turned out the decision to put my chromebook by my bed was a good idea after all. Enjoy the read.

In The Shadow of Mistakes

It can be such a heavy weight to bear,
The memories of what we’ve done.
Shadows of past mistakes that weigh heavily on the mind,
Things we’d rather forget that never seem to go away.
Each one is a painful lesson learned,
Lessons that our emotions won’t let us forget.
As heavy as theses shadows are we can’t let them stop us,
We can’t let them keep us from living our lives.
Hold the lessons close and never let them go,
But let go of the feelings that weigh you down.
We can never undo the mistakes we’ve made,
But we can learn from them so we don’t repeat our mistakes.

The Looking Glass

On more or less a random impulse I’ve decided to share some of my older  work.  This is from ~2008.

The Looking Glass

What do you see in the looking glass?

Do you see things that have been, or things yet to pass?

Do you see the rain, or clear blue sky?

Do you see what makes you laugh, or what makes you cry?

Do you see a life begins, or when it ends?

Do you see your enemies, or those you call friends?

Do you see what you love, or that which you hate?

Do you see freedom, or do you see fate?

Do you see the path you walk, or the one you shun?

Do you see hope, or do you see it undone?

Do you pick up your glass and take a drink?

Or do you simply stare at it and think?

What do you think will come to pass,

When you drink from your looking glass?

Wherein Dreams Begin

Wherein Dreams Begin

Just take a breath and hold it in,

Come join me wherein dreams begin.

Let’s wipe away those daytime tears,

And scare away those nighttime fears.

Just listen to the heart’s soft melody,

Then in this place of magic you will be.

The stars over head are the dream’s fresh start,

Each an honest wish of the heart.

Countless places you can go,

From an ocean beach or a world of snow.

Imagine the beauty you can find,

When your only limit is your mind.

If your heart can dream of a place,

It won’t just be a hope you  chase.

Simply close those lullaby eyes,

Picture these star dotted skies.

It will be there twinkling on high,

Now take a breath and reach for the sky.

Picture your star’s soft gleam,

Then open those eyes and see your dream.

Come join me wherein dreams begin,

Just take a breath and hold it in.
