Isolation

There’s no one around, no one to see

It seems the world decided to let me be.

I thought I’d feel free with no one around,

No one to make those annoying sounds.

Yet now I find this silence crushing,

I can hear my heart beating, my blood rushing.

It feels like this silence will tear me apart,

My thoughts, my mind, even my heart.

I must find a way out of this silent place,

I panic, I run, from the silence I race.

Yet as far as I run there’s no one to find.

No one to save me from this place in my mind.

Traveler’s Log 1 Introduction: Cyackle

This is the introduction/teaser to a story I’m working on for my Patreon account, and I’ve been told I should upload it here as well. I don’t have a whole lot uploaded on it yet, but that is something I intend to remedy over time.

“So, Cyackle, do you have any idea why I’ve called you here?” The faceless Watcher asked the person sitting across the table from him, though the one sitting across from him wasn’t exactly human. It had the head of a dog and an almost human like body, though the parts of it that were visible were all covered in fur.

“I’m guessing it’s the usual show and dance. You need a problematic person in some realm to stop being problematic, generally by means of killing them, to make sure they don’t cause any instability for the realm itself.” Cyackle replied, and after a short pause to let out a dull sigh he continued, “Most likely you’ve either decided it’s not worth bothering the big gun, or you asked him and he told you it was too boring for him.”

“Actually; you were my first pick for this mission, and it’s a rescue operation rather than killing someone. Doesn’t that sound nice for a change?” The Watcher said, and for a moment Cyackle stared at him silently as he thought about it.

“Alright; I’ll bite. There must be some reason you’d pick me first for a rescue mission of all things, and for the love of all don’t tell me it’s something about redemption. I’m a neutral entity, my actions don’t require redemption.” The hound replied dryly as he leaned forward to rest an elbow on the table so he could set his head on it.

“Oh I’m fully aware your current actions don’t need any redemption, but how would the people back home feel about you not needing redemption? Maybe you should just ask them now, after all how many of them make up that body of yours? One hundred, a thousand, or perhaps more than that?” That remark successfully got Cyackle to look at the table rather than the Watcher, which seemed to be what he was after.

“Now that we’ve gotten that pleasantry out of the way, let’s move on to the actual subject at hand.” The Watcher said before tapping the table causing a projected image of a world to form over it, and with a little wiggle of his finger the view zoomed into a small dot on the largest continent. “I want you to infiltrate the magic research factory in this country’s capital, that’s where your rescue targets are.”

“What’s so special about this that I’d be your first pick? I’m sure there are other Walkers who could do the job.”

“That’s true, but I thought this one might be of particular interest to you. The ones you’ll be rescuing are children being used as test subjects for magic experimentation.” The Watcher paused for a moment to examine the look of pain and rage that briefly formed on Cyackle’s face, “Yes, I thought that might strike a nerve with you.”

“Do I have any contacts in the realm for this mission?” The hound asked as he got his temper back under control.

“I’ll only give you further information if you choose to accept the mission.” The Watcher said rather firmly, a statement that earned a hollow laugh and a grin from the one across the table.

“Yeah, I’ll take the damn mission,” Cyackle said before looking to where the Watcher’s eyes would be if he had any to begin with.

“Your primary contact is one Debra MacArthur, she has the location of the research facility and information about it you will need to accomplish your objective. At last communication with her, she was setting up a meeting with her man on the inside.” The Watcher paused for a moment to bring up a projection of the woman so Cyackle would know who he was looking for before continuing, “That was two days ago, she has likely set up the meeting by now.”

“Alright, open a path to the last point you made contact with her. With a bit of luck, she set the meeting point close to there.” Cyackle said as he stood up and moved towards the open doorway that lead in and out of the Watcher’s Sanctuary.

As the Watcher moved to open the rift to the destination, he asked Cyackle one last question. “How lucky are you feeling?”

With a bit of a grin, the canine looked back over his shoulder at him and replied, “Not even slightly.”

Stray Thoughts

What watches us from the veil of night?

What is hiding from the touch of light?

A ghost with a past of blood and pain,

Whispering of revenge in the wind and the rain?

Is it a man condemned lying in wait,

Or the restless dead with hunger to sate?

It’s in every sound you hear,

That brushes your heart with fear.

They’re demons we have inside our minds.

Those stray thoughts we can’t seem to bind.

Panic

Can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.

This overwhelming panic has me on my knees.

Looking up at the sky praying please Lord, please make it stop,

I can’t take it anymore it feels like my heart is about to pop.

One more surge of panic feels like the end.

Then bury me and to heaven, my soul send.

I can hear the devil laugh as I gasp and strain,

Laughing at my fear and this growing pain.

This perpetual anxiety just won’t let me be,

So release my soul and set me free.

Free to arrive at another hellscape,

Perhaps this fear I won’t ever escape.

Flicker

Something on the older side, but I didn’t see it on the list of things I’ve posted here already.

__________

I can see a flicker in the distance,

A faint light dancing in the gloom.

With each passing moment I worry that it’s going out,

I worry that the world will go dark again.

Even though I’ve never been close enough to feel its warmth,

I still cherish that distant dancing light.

I can only imagine how warm it must feel,

To know the touch of that little light in a world of dark.

As much as a yearn to feel it,

I dare not get any closer.

I dare not do anything to risk putting out that dancing light,

The only light I can see.

Obsession

I’m going to be uploading something I’ve written in the time I haven’t been posting them here, so expect a few more posts today.

This one I wrote for a little challenge I saw on Facebook, the prompt for it was “Beauty Queen.” I meant to write something positive when I started it, and by the end of it I could safely say that I really failed at that goal

__________

Such a pretty girl, a dainty girl,

With a sweet smile and chiming laugh,

Sweet gestures to enthrall the boys.

A charming girl, a lovely girl.

She’s kind to everyone that she meets,

Giving love and compassion to those in need.

A wonderful girl, a beautiful girl.

With a body just as sweet as her face,

Just being around her makes my heart race.

A sweet girl, a tempting girl.

I can’t take my eyes off her when she’s around,

I’d do anything for her attention.

A desirable girl

What can I do to make her notice me?

How can I make her love me?

A loveable girl.

She said my name!

She smiled my way!

The only girl

She’s all I can think about,

All I want is for her to be mine.

The desired girl.

I must have her for myself,

There’s only one thing I can do

Only one thing I can do to make her mine

The only way to make her

My girl

Pleasure

Spin, twist, roll, thrash,

Revel in these feelings that last.

The burning of desire, hunger, lust,

The sweet feelings you shouldn’t trust.

Yet all the same it feels so right,

To give into these pleasures through the night.

Let those feelings slowly eat you away,

Draw them out all through the day.

Oh how wonderful it does feel,

To have those desires made real.

Bask in them as you slowly fade,

For the price of pleasure must be paid.

Sing, Dance, and Burn

Sing, dance, and burn in the fire,

Is it true love or lustful desire?

A soft touch and a sweet smile,

Sends the heart rushing a mile.

Passion brews and adds to the flame,

Love and lust can burn all the same.

Dance, spin, and give them a kiss,

Hold their hand while you make your wish.

Will it be just a night of fun,

Or perhaps you think they’re the one.

Deep inside it’s all still burning,

Love, lust, passion, yearning.

When the fire dies and the ashes fall,

Will you still feel at all?

Devil’s Whisper

Haunting taunting voices in my head,

Whispering things to fill my heart with dread.

They’re conspiring with the monsters under my bed,

And with the beasts lurking in the closet.

They whisper in my ear and say my name,

They think this nightmare is just a game.

Night and day it’s all the same,

These taunting whispers that never end.

They drag my mind to the depths of hell,

Through the burning circles I fell.

To the devil my soul they sell,

Then in my ear he whispers.

“This game has only reached its start,

I promise you I’ll tear your soul apart.

When the fear finally stops your heart,

Only then will the game be done.”
